Correcting Registration Interactively by Object Manipulation in Mixed Reality


Registration for mixed reality often includes an error that causes failure in manipulating virtual objects by a real pointer. In this article, we propose a method to correct the error interactively by object manipulation. When object manipulation is considered as a series of positioning a pointer, each manipulation is required to satisfy some constraint on the position of a pointer in order to be successful. For example, in order to grasp an object, a pointer must exist on the surface of the object. By using such a constraint corresponding to each performed manipulation, the position of a pointer is corrected. Since examples of these corrections can be used to subsequent manipulations, the correction of the error of registration is realized by a set of those examples.
